The pack-out process normally consists of:
Verifying the correct products have been picked.
Placing the products in an appropriately sized shipping carton.
Printing and inserting the packing list or invoice.
Adding protective dunnage.
Sealing the carton.
Printing and applying the shipping label.
In a distribution center or manufacturing environment, an efficient pack process is critical to reducing labor and operational costs. A UPS, FedEx, or USPS tracking number is often assigned at the pack workstation. Shipping labels can be custom configured and must be UCC compliant. Bills of lading, special packaging instructions, invoices, etc. can be printed and inserted into the shipping container.
Coming from our shipping department, every order is guaranteed to ship the most cost-effective way, unless otherwise specified by the customer. -(Customer might have an account with a carrier and go Freight Collect). Our smaller size/weight orders will ship out UPS, FedEx, or DHL when applicable. All other larger size/weight orders will ship out by LTL Truck/Freight (Prepaid & Add), using the most cost-effective freight carrier as we have plenty of steep discounts with many of the major freight carriers. It is our shipping departments call to make that decision.
